I love the business cards good job!!!Jesse you rock!!!
I ALREADY HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTING THEM ALL OVER TOWN. The news is out all over town we went to the liquor store to get milk for coffee and the business owner is aware that we are here I was really happy to know that people are aware of us being here.
I have sent out the thank you letters
THanks for the feedback much appreciated

Helen Lehman from the new development corporation has offered to convene a group of folks who are knowledgeable about the creston area. I posted her full email on the history page. This could be just a way of gathering more information or could be some kind of event/project. I think that the Social Networks group could look into this further.

Hi
On behalf of the civic studio I wanted to thank you for coming down to the studio and joining us in our class discussion. Your input is valued and we appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to help develop the concept and the image of our civic studio. We have an open studio every Friday from 4-5 if you would like to come and check on our development in the studio feel free. Once again thanks.

- i'd probably say 'we really value your input' instead of 'your input is valued'. it sounds more personal maybe? otherwise it rocks! :)

It would be good if someone could write a brief thank you emails or notes to our guests from last week. Please cc me on the email. I'm glad to give support in what to say and how to say it.

How about thank-you note or email to Chris Byron and the staff at GRPL history department. It would be nice to let them know that we appreciate their instruction and assistance in our work. How was the experience important for us. cbyron@grpl.org. Also Rebecca Smith-Hoffman of Past Perfect Inc. assisted some of us with Architectural info. grpreserve@aol.com. And Professor Carl Bajema of GVSU Bio department assisted as well. bajemac@gvsu.edu pw 1/23/05

Some theorize that at the root of civic problems is a decay in social networks. Whether the aim is cultural, political, or civic the tactic is establishing and working social networks. See The Tipping Point http://www.gladwell.com/tippingpoint/index.html
This group prospects and leads in matters that have to do with our human engagement with individuals and groups in Creston. It is important that we remain aware of the nature of our engagement. How do we maximize the positive affect of our intervention and minimize the negative effects. Part of this is learning about people and keeping track of who they are and what their interests are. What are appropriate ways of engaging people?
What are our social networks? Creston residents, art people, college people . . . .
How might we develop social networks that might remain after we leave?
We can make a directory of people invovled and connected to the project. It would be useful during the project and an interesting document after.
We should make a directory of studio members and how best to communicate with them. email/ cell phone/ home phone . . . .
Each participant is expected to do direct service at an arranged volunteer placement (Paul has to make official contact). This work group supports and encourages this involvement and works to make it effective and beneficial.
Our weekly open studio time from 4-5pm Fridays are a time when we specifically should be ready to welcome visitors and guests and show them around. When we have public events how can we make people feel welcome and comfortable?
We should do neighborhood introductions January 21st. For this we need simple cards that have basic information such as:
civic studio
1515 Plainfield NE (the old Rock Shop)
January 14 through April 30, 2005
Open Studio 4-5pm Fridays
stop by and see what we're working on
http://civicstudio.org
When should we send a broad invite to the art and university community?
When should we do a special invite to past civic studio participants?
I've inquired around a bit about how we might gather some stories from people who have lived in the area for a long time. How might we do this?

I think that we should wait till we have soem progress to invite the
entire Grand Valley Community, But I think it would be great to invite
people of the past civic studio's to get some feedback from them. We should try to have them out during class time so we all have a chance to talk with them.
I was wondering are going to have business cards to show who we are and what we are representing??

I have been researching on the building, which Constance lives in: 1224 Plainfield
Seems it was built around 1910 and the Cherry Family inhabited it for sixty years. Frances was married to William Cherry then was widowed the year after being a widow I believe she remarried Howard Wanamaker. The downstairs area in the twenties and thirties was a confectionary. Then in the fifties was Caruso’s Midnight Market, Sixties Morgan’s Midnight Market, Seventies Bob’s Midnight Market, in the Eighties it was vacant, and in 1990 was Dave and Save Variety New and Used Household goods. The first Trace of Constance was in 2001 and the business was SUCK INC Productions.
so was SUCK INC Constantin's business? haha, funny acronym. I think the thank you letters and business cards look really nice and thoughtful in proposal form, how have we divvied Unknown function: sp?
