After visiting the old water treatment facility, I began thinking about how many of the buildings functioned as busy civic places. Most of the activities that took place in the buildings in Creston neighborhood were communal in a sense, not necessarily communal but done with multiple people ie a movie theater, library, grocery store. Now the neighborhood seems to be pretty dead, sure there are some restaurants left where people eat together, but the general sense of community is not there - when, 50 years ago, it seems as though the community was very vibrant. I have been slowly beginning to make a list of different places that existed in Creston that were based in group activity. [movie theater, grocery store, water treatment plant, library] that existed in the neighborhood. I then want to try and take the same idea, or experience that is created by taking part in one of these activities and create a device that can reproduce that same effect, but only for one person. ie a one person movie theater a filtration plant for one person this idea is continually changing as I consider and reconsider different things, I will post mroe once it changes again.
