So...as far as overall curation, we have gone through almost all of the images, catalogued them by day, and picked out the best ones for presenting what we've been doing. The pics will be in a slideshow (titled Slideshow for civicstudio5), which we can show at our final event and during the other days. Since we have so many projects coming to fruition, there isn't much more we have to do to "present" our work (because Becky is doing the brunt of that through curating the event). Please add any pictures you haven't uploaded yet, and add the good ones to the slideshow (or I can do it for you if you ask!) :)

Here's a couple ideas i have...take the photos we pick and present them similar to how a window display for a food shop would be:

1. as labels on bottles (re: jones soda style, or something else)
2. as coupons
3. as food signs (like at the ice cream & sub shop i used to work at, we had to make little signs for everything)
4. as a menu with pictures–make a menu to stick in the window with our pictures, but the items listed would be descriptions of things we did or learned during those days. Perhaps a picture of scrubbing the fridge with "Friday Fridge revival special...[insert something clever and relevant here]"
5. as a menu on the pepsi board, with pictures surrounding it (this might be easier, but we'd have to think of how to word it. We could do one item for each week of studio or something?

I looked through all the rest of them as well on friday... now it's time to think of a format and what we want to do with these images.

okay, I just looked through and saved the pics I chose in catalogs on iview. I looked through days 2-8.... gotta take a break from it. :) Jules 4/1

Maybe we could test a few of Jenn Schaubs ideas for "throwing a show." We have a mobile unit (the trailor), a store front window, many posts outside our door, and a high speed internet connection.

I finally got a valid license number for iview on the main studio computer. Now you can use iview to sort the images. Just save the selected ones to a new catalogue file.

oh yeah, I didn't get to go through those on sunday. so sorry about that–i got lost in my derivee and in reading public theory stuff. if possible i'll try to get to studio either wednesday or thursday nite to look through a few (at least 3) folders. if not, i can go in a bit early on friday and do it! will this work?

Jules, Zona and I talked about things to do to bring together the different projects and experiences that we have been doing through studio. Talked about:

  1. getting everyone to write on public theory
  2. image collection: we're going through our image archive to pick out the best that can be used for slide show, for printing, etc.
  3. a time capsule: we thought it would be cool to have some things to leave behind (similar to how we found cool artifacts in the building when we got here). Ideas:
  • letters about our experience/what we've learned
  • public theory writings
  • the walking paper
  • a studio mixed CD (audio index of our presence, also 'pop' culture)
  • bottle of towne club soda
  • recipes for towne club soda

Paul noted that these ideas are more for finished product/wrapping it up, but we should also think of ways to present to people now what we've been doing. How can we make our process visible to everyone (and ourselves)?

  • image slide show as window display
  • our research (displayed how?)
