local art things even as a first year art student there is no reason not to get involved in the local art scene. here are some select organizations that will deliver you to the visual heart of what is happening in town.
g-rad this is a new online community that mirrors folks around the daac (division avenue arts collective). They've got a bead on art and music in town. Check out their calendar pages which you can subscribe to if you have ical.
uica urban institute for contemporary arts is the formal center of new art in gr. They have 3 galleries, studios, and present music, performance, dance, poetry as well as being a great place to see the latest great films.
grand rapids art museum the new gr art museum is under construction right by the mia lin designed park in downtown gr.
free radical project makes way for monthly installations of varied art projects in vacant buildings in GR. This year it'll be run by GVart grad Jenn Schaub, who also does a weekly listmail about art in gr called
