Jessica Stockholer was born in 1959 in Seattle, Washington and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. Though she originaly studied painting, she soon found her passion to be in contemporary sculptures and installation. However, her artwork is far from the ordinary. The sculptures consist of random objects such as fabric, wooden planks, light bulbs, and other items involving electricity. Her experience with painting is reflected by the bright and opaque colors splashed on her pieces to emphasize their fictional vibes.
Though some of Stockholder's installations hang from walls, many are free-standing. She deliberately constructs them so that the viewer must walk around in a full circle to appreciate their design.
