.::.Biography.::.

Feminist painter/printmaker Ida Applebroog, is a conceptualist,a performance and video artist, also she is a social critic, using a cartoon style of drawing and painting. Ida Applebroog was born in 1929 in the Bronx, New York. About her art, she says, "I'm conducting a cultural anatomy of what makes us miserable today." She established her studio in New York City. Most of her work is somewhat in the abstract style, with human-like figures as the focal points and very stong inner emotional content involving culture and society as a whole. Her mediums vary between works but she most often works in paint and in printmaking. Her work is strong in content and portrays themes of society and the situations we put ourselves in.
