The work that Mary Jane Jacobs was curator of was relevant out side of the context of art in that the pieces are more than just pieces or expressions that people make, but they are a part of something real. Not that other art, like paintings or sculptures aren't real, but the way that all the pieces Jacobs takes part in have a history to represent and interact with make it seem like it is more than a piece of art.
The pieces, like the Philips Community, the door, and the blue chairs were personal pieces, not just for the artist but also for all the people in the areas as well.
By curating the pieces she gets into the process of creating the art. She becomes a part of the piece almost, because of the level at which she works with the artist. She almost has to know what they want it to mean more than they do, in order to present it the best way possible. The part of her lecture that completely caught my attention was when she said something about how a career in art is a career of not knowing, or something like that, and she elaborated more. I feel like that is the best way I have ever heard anyone describe art and a career in it. Not knowing what is going to happen next, or where each project will take you. It was cool to hear that at the end.

In all honesty
