Tim Rollins and K.O.S.

Tim Rollins has been working with the kids since the early eighties. At the time he was special Ed teacher being challenged to introduce art into the south bronx pubic school system. He thus created the Art and Knowledge program for children with learning disabilities. He introduced these kids to modern art and art history by using pages of their art history books as their backgrounds for large scale group works. Over the years he saved a once dying program and now calls it the Kids of Survival.

Rollins continues his program today but now has a few helping hands that make the program available to more students each year.
