Margaret Kilgallen

Margaret Kilgallen;
She was born in 1967 in Washington,D.C. She earned a bachelor's degree in studio art and printmaking at Colorado College and went on to get a Master of Fine Arts degree from Stanford. Her work draws on elements of folk art and mural paintings, and words and letters are prominent in her pieces. Most subjects in her work include hobos, alcoholics, carnies, and surfer women. She was described as being remarkably gifted, courageous, shy, sweet, and quirky. Her pieces have been shown at The Drawing Center in NY, Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, and the UCLA Hammer Museum.
She died June 26, 2001 of complications from breast cancer at the age of 33.
