Here's a good example of some artwork from Rhizome.org.
Sadly, I just wrote an entire entry on what I thought about the site, and neglected to save it! Nonetheless. I found this site very interesting. The whole idea behind it, to be "an online platform for the global new media art community" is a great thing.
From my own estimation I think that a common misconception about modern art is that its just thrown together with little or no thought, that the old days of Monet and DaVinci, the 'true artists' are long gone. The site gives a good look at artists of today, creating art for a purpose, to connect with society, with our culture. I myself have often been jugdemental about modern art, and by using this site I hope to gain a better grasp on things.
I'd encourage you to take a look at it. Theres some fun stuff. One artist I stumbled upon has added a sort of techno tune to his pieces, Pall Thayer. Its a sort of slide show, its definitely worth checking out. Well, thats all.
