Uploaded Image: left tack.jpgOn lonely nights when I can't sleep I have certain objects and picture I look at to help me relax. If I'm frustrated and angry just seeingUploaded Image: right tack.jpg my moms face can put me in a new state of calm. I don't even have to see her face I can imagine it and get the same effect. It is truly amazing how images can have so much influence over a person's emotions. It can affect a person's state of mind or even his or her well being. And an image that means something to me may mean nothing to any of my friends. The power of the image is held in the mind and we cannot control it. Every imaage we see has an effect on us. Background, social status, up-bringing, religious affiliation and even the time of day can have an impact on how we see everything! It boggles the mind to think about. And we also learn empathy through images we see. If we see a photograph of someone crying we automatically begin to feel sorrow for that person and many times take in the clues from the image to start piecing together a story of why that person is sad. It's all part of the human condition.

Images have saturated our culture. we see them in the news, we take photos on our cameras, we got to museums to see great works of art . . . we go to the store to see reproductions of the same thing :) images are everywhere invading our homes and our minds . . . we can't stop it and we shouldn't want to!
