Bruce Nauman
Bruce Nauman, a Contemporary American Artist, was born on December 6, 1941.
66 years later he was and still is a very well known artist around the world
In 1999 he was recognized by his work by recieving the Golden Lion of Venice Biennale
He graduated from the University Of Wisconsin, where he studied mathematics and physics.
As well, he studied art from University of California.
Before his fame he became a teacher at the San Francisco Art Institute
In 1968 he met a singer and performace artist Meredith Monk thats where he later singed with Leo Castelli.
He moved to New Mexico in the 1980's where much of is work was recorded as intereseted by languauge.
Personally I admire some of his work. Mostly His sculptures. For example "Double Pyramid", " Truncated Pyramid Room", and "Stegosaurus".
With his one piece "..Shaft and Tunnel" the balance and composition is inspiring.
A piece to glance at of his work is called "Truncated Pyramid Room".
The movement on this piece is inviting to look at.
Another piece, that one can find from the website below, "The True Artist Helps The world by Revealing Mystic Truths" has movement. How the words curve around, mimicking a snail shell, makes the eye move along with it.
As well, "Fox Wheel" is another peice that the eye, following the creatures.
From comparing him and from other contemporary artist he has a different style. It seems like that he's not affraid to show off of his talents. He surely does have a different way at looking variety of perspective.
As i mentioned before his peices has involved with movement, especially with the "Green Light Corridor"
How it makes the eye moves straight down.
From studying his work the medium of choice that he use are fiber glass for his statues, abstract body cast, films, interactive enviornment, videos, performances, neon wall reliefs.. etc.
It was recorded that through his work he expresses the contrast between the sensuality and physical difference of space throughout his work, especially through his sculptures. One can see the unigue disntict taste throughout his pieces.
