chicago Mackenzie Whims

I am pretty sure that i was born in the wrong city. Although growing up in Grosse Pointe and so close to Detroit has been amazing, my heart will always lie with the windy city. My mom and her whole family is from Chicago and grew up in a Frank Lloyd Wright house. Even though she had to share it with 6 other sisters she still knows that she was lucky. When she moved to Michigan to live with my father we still found ourselves in Chicago on multiple occasions to visit the rest of her family. Luckily at least twice a year i found myself speed walking down the streets of chicago like it was my backyard. My passion for the city grows everytime i go there because i always see something new. Chicago has so many things to offer and so much life that is a waste if you do not get the chance to explore it. Shopping should never be the only reason to visit because there are so many places to see. If anyone is in the Oak Park area i highly suggest stopping and taking the Frank Lloyd Wright tour because everytime it still amazes me.

The MCA not only offered a range of interesting art visually but also suggested deep thought with some of its pieces. On the main floor of the museum in one of the large exhibit rooms held one of the most curious art works there. A room concealed with pure white walls was disturbed by the neon glow of a pure orange carpet. Of course this stirred a question in every visitors mind of the purpose and intention. Was the intention of the artist to stump the viewer and allow their minds to create ideas in their head as to why it was there? Could it have been the simplicity of the room that fills your head with thoughts when you walk into it or maybe the glow on the walls and faces of the people in the room that proves its artistic purpose. I personally found a great connection with this piece because of these questions that it proposes. Art is not only beautiful for what it looks like but the thoughts that it forces on the viewer.
