The message behind the Guerilla Girls is pretty simple, minorities need to be represented equally in all aspects. Their process for putting out this message may be a little controversial to some, but by doing this, it creates a greater interest and spreads a knowledge that many people are oblivious to. The poster with the gorilla mask on the painting "Large Odalisque", i felt was a very powerful way to bring this truth to the masses. Similar to the label project, they took an image that many people were familar with and altered it in order to convey their message.
What suprised me about the presentation, was how many women didnt associate themselves with being a feminist. I dont know if it because of the streotype that seems to run along with it or they just prefer the way things are or maybe they believe in the message of feminism but do not wish to be associated with the group. For me, the idea of equal representation especialling in the art world should be seen considering that at Grand Valley much of the department consists of females and I think they would like their work to be treated the same as the rest of artists.
Overall the presentation was quite entertaining and i feel it brought attention to how segregated aspects in a community still are although they may not be as blatent as they once were.
