Feminist, it’s funny how when most people who are not feminist always relate that word with non-feminists. Most people think of feminist as bitchy, whinny, woman who like nothing more then complain; yes there maybe be people out there like that but those are not feminists. During the Guerrilla Girls lecture they showed a few clips and read some letters that shows there are many people (mostly likely just man) that see the Guerrilla Girls as a bunch of whining bitches, which is really far from the truth.

To tell the truth I really had no idea woman were having such a struggle in the art world, one might think that maybe the reason for woman having a hard time in the art world is there not as good as man in art but anybody who pays and kind of attention knows that’s a bunch of crap. It really come down to gallery owners or those who go out and try to sell others art, most of them are in it for the money and they look for those artists that will sell and for some reason they have gotten it into their heads that men are easier to sell then woman, which at a time might have been true but I don’t think that’s how the world is today. Most people just don’t like to take risks on something new.

Lectures like the Guerrilla Girls are important to me, I like many other people tend to not pay a whole lot of attention to the outside world at times and I have no real idea what is really going on. Lecture such as this one are some what of a reminder of how the world thinks, how artist might be opened mind and not even see the artist but the art work its self. But the people holding the money don’t focus as much on the art work its self, as they might the artist. Which is good to understand being a artist myself, even if I am a man.

Stereotypes, everyone knows at least one stereotype relating to a woman (the dumb blond), but I never really thought there was as many as the ones showed within the Guerrilla Girls lecture. Most women if they start speaking their mind are most of the time are considered a bitch, even when women just do something men and even women don’t like the words whore, drama queen, ballbuster, bimbo the list goes on. Women have in ways gotten the short end of the stick in the world. It doesn’t surprise me that woman hundreds of years ago were treated being in the art world as well in the all other aspects. It makes me sad that now so many years later that nothing has really changed, that people still can’t look at the quality of ones works instead focus on the person who made it.
