guerrilla girls
the guerrilla girls presentation was pretty straightforward: there needs to be equality of the races and the sexes in the art world for anything to be considered 'good.' i personally don't consider myself a complete feminist, but more a person who wants equality for everyone. and that's pretty much what the guerrilla girls were really getting at.
a lot of what she said applies directly to my life as a female artist looking for a job and to be recognized in the art world in the future. the presentation also reached me on another level with the use of humor. that's something that i personally use to get my point across a lot of the time just as the guerilla girls use it as a main way of attacking the injustices in the world of art.
overall i love the ideas behind what the guerrilla girls are trying to do, i just wish that they were more effective. i feel as though there isn't enough happening to change what needs to be changed. and what is happening isn't producing great results. so as a female artist the guerrilla girls presentation opened my eyes to how much work i have cut out for me.
