Image Studio
First week out of class work-
- chapter 2 of Practices of Looking
- bring contributions to the flat collection: materials, substrates, . . . .
- add imagists “whose work we should keep in mind” to the web site list of imagists
- contribute to the Contexts/Sites for Image Presentation web list
- contribute to the Uses, Functions, Purposes for Images web list
Studio assignment:
prepare a proposed placement of an image in a non-typical site/manner. you may actually implement the proposal as long as you are responsible to gain appropriate permissions. you may also create the image (bring it to studio) and not install it at your proposed site. you may also put together a formal proposal with drawings or constructed images.
Your guide in terms of the form of your presentation need not be formal. Focus on being clear about showing (visually - experientially) your concept.
be aware and deliberate about how the site/manner of presentation interacts with meaning.
be aware and deliberate about how your choices interact with audience/ reception/ and value.
