Independent studio projects
This work will be critiqued informally in the studio so bring it/have it with you in class. We will also do 2 rounds of formal critiques at which you are expected to have substantial completed work for consideration. These will happen in the 2 weeks prior to spring break (7 per week) and then in the last 3 weeks of the semester (5 per week). We will conclude the course with a selected group critique/display.
These projects can be individual or small group work. You also can design a studio process for larger or whole studio groups. They should engage topics, issues, or media that we are considering in image studio - though these are quite broad. Consult with fellow studio members and especially with Paul on each phase of your thinking. You can use a wiki space to develop and share your work product.
Specific sources of work might be:
studio moto
Practices of Looking - our text or issues from discussions
Studio or Rudimentary exercises
marginalia
????
These projects are expected to be complete and deliberately (appropriately) crafted and constructed. This includes attention to the object as well as the image; what is the phenomenological effect of the work. (Remember our rudiments and talk about rich experience). Also the intended context of presentation should be considered and included in the development and presentation of the work. Be sure as well to use appropriate means of digital process and output.
