Action Steps: What is to be done?
We need:
- Visual Culture TV
- tolerance when people don't get it
- art to be more accessible
- possibilities of big "A" art to be more accessible
- public more public
- collaborations across disciplines
- get rid of Art Schools
- artists to interact more with audience/ client/ culture
- teach people how to "read" art
- don't dictate - let others talk to us
- take advantage of our visual skills to manipulate viewers
- hold people accountable who say they like art
- media literacy
- make galleries more interactive
- engage public
- embrace comodification (what is the Visual Art equivalant of dvd's relationship to movies)
- be more aware of what we make -environment -politics
IN the studio we need to:
- show work to others -friends
- adopt cheap means of production
- make work that is not the result of a school assignment
- share studios
- get involved
- remember - the world is plastic (to be formed) so when we make an image, we are making the world
