ARTStor is a good database for finding images.
Oxford Art Onine is good for quick, general information.

Final Exam Schedule
Check
this page for your final exam schedule. Find your class's starting time and the chart tells you when the exam will be. Because art classes are three hours, your professor may choose to use the final exam slot allotted to one of the other hours that the class takes in.
Here are the final exam times for us:
The Monday/Wednesday class has its final Monday, December 14 from 2-4 p.m.
The Tuesday/Thursday class will have its final on Monday, December 14 from 6-8 p.m. This is not its scheduled time, but because I will be out of town we will have the final then. The two students who told me they have a conflict with this (because they have a class normally scheduled on Monday night) will attend the other section's final, on Monday Dec. 14 from 2-4 p.m.

Schedule Update:
Your Collection/Containment project will be due November 11 or 12, depending on your section. You are still encouraged to finish and turn it in on November 09 or 10 because we will be moving on to the next assignment and will not slow down. But we will not have critiques of them until the 11th and 12th. This change is in response to some students' need for more time.
Here are a few other notes about the schedule:
The Installation project will be due on November 23 or 24 and must be removed before you leave for Thanksgiving.

Here are a few images that will help us in our
discussion of McEvilley.

Upcoming readings:
Susan Sontag's
Against Interpretation
Thomas McEvilley's
Heads It's Form, Tails It's Not Content
Read and respond to Sontag by class time on Oct. 26/27.
Read and respond to McEvilley by class time on Oct. 28/29.
Do not wait to start these, especially McEvilley. They are demanding, but well worth it. Use a dictionary if you need to. Use Wikipedia if they reference things you don't understand.

Written Analysis of Word/Image project
Due on your wiki page one week from the due date of the project
For each one that you turned in, describe the interaction between the two elements (word(s) and image(s)). What kind of relationship(s) exist between them? Enumerate and describe the multiple meanings that exist in the pairing. In what way and by what mechanisms does each element affect the meaning of the other? What meanings are the most forceful or prominent? What design choices have you made to amplify or minimize the strength of certain meanings?

Here is a random word generator. It's nice.

Here is a reference I put together about image resolution. It should be all you need to make sure you have proper image resolution and prepare you to make the 20 Photoshop documents for next class.
Here is a Photoshop Tutorial made by Anna Campbell that goes through the Photoshop work on the first assignment.
