Tim Hawkinson

Uploaded Image: bio.jpg upon reviewing the material I immediately discovered that I was already a fan and familiar with the work of Tim Hawkinson. We had met once before in 1998 on the Beck Album "mutations" where is sculptures appeared in the CD booklet and my adolescent mind became perplexed. The pieces were grotesque in some ways, but nevertheless enthralling as I found my self compelled to look. So many years after first seeing images of his work I find we have met unexpectedly again. But now I have a name to go with these dismembered sculptures that have floated in my head for some time. Macaskill Wright

Tim Hawkinson was born in San Francisco, California in 1960.He graduated from San Jose State University, he later earned his MFA at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1989. The inspiration for much of Hawkinson’s work has been the re-imagining of his own body and makeing it into a portrait of this new self. His work can range from the minute to the gigantic. Hawkinson works in many realms of art; from painting and installations to sculpture and mechanized form.
