Le Corbusier Group 2

Edit Le Corbusier Group 2 here.

There is so much potential in any given area ~ with free rein on whether to simply remodel or completely reconstruct the land leads to endless possibilities. Of course, it is practical to utilize already existing structures and important to take into account the surroundngs and adjacent features and locations. With Area 2 being so close to a freeway exit, it was logical to let the gas station remain, though our group opted to do a bit of remodeling on its behalf.
Using the land efficicently, we suggested converting some of the multiple story buildings into apartments with shops on the ground floor (a concept popular in the 50s) and an underground parking structure.
A small, currently vacant triangle of space could easily be occupied by a public phone booth, convenient and a good use of a spare land.

Being able to walk around the site was definitely a better experience to inspire ideas than just looking at a map or diagram. Getting a "hands-on" feel of the area is ideal for brainstorming. I only wish it was possible to enter some of the buildings to get a better idea of what was salvagable, and what we could work with and improve.
