"Peace Birds"-For my Image-Image piece, I combined an image of birds migrating with an image of a girl giving the peace sign. This combination of images reinforce each other through the similar use of ‘V’ shapes. Not only do the birds form a ‘V’ in their flying formation, but there are also several ‘V’s made from their wings on the background. The girl’s peace sign is the other ‘V’ that the wings point to and connect the two images together. Birds and the idea of peace also relate through the symbol of the peace dove. Whenever I look at this combination of images, I feel a sense of ease or calmness.
IMAGE-WORD
"Cow Lunch"-For my Image-Word piece, I combined the word “Lunch” on top of an image of cows eating in a field on a nice day. This combination represents the cows in two ways: One way is describing the cows as the subject eating the grass (possibly for lunch). The other way “Lunch” is represented in this picture is through the viewer as the subject, looking at the cows for lunch. This image-word combination could offend some vegetarians because of the idea of cows as food.
WORD-WORD
"Underwear Oasis"-For my Word-Word piece, I combined the provocative yet ordinary word “underwear” with the tropical, peaceful word “oasis.” These two words together create several visual images in the mind. When I first made this combination, I thought of extreme comfort and relaxation. It also made me think of wearing underwear as like being at a spa. Oases are also wet areas, which relates back to underwear and bodily functions.
