Art Dept. Technology committee meeting

Wednesday, December 13th

Agenda
The goal of the meeting to review issues and establish an agenda for the committee.

• MIRA remote controls
demonstration. for our classroom AV setups.
(http://twistedmelon.com) Any computer that does not have an Infrared receiver built in will also need a usb IR receiver. The software is $15 per copy. IR Receivers are $15 each.

• AV tech needs for next year's request. These would be for fixed av in various rooms like the Art History lecture room, Art Education, and Advanced Drawing.

• Lab usage and student computing. This is getting more complicated with many School of Communications courses now scheduled in the labs in CAC. The issue of portable computer plan figures in the mix.

• Visual Resources Position: Expectations for the job and chain of communication to ensure that we can make the most of the job for us and the campus community.

• New or Additional items or issues.



Meeting notes:

MIRA Remote controls
Paul will make requests for Faculty machines, Matt will request for classroom machines. All classroom machines/instructor stations would need both MIRA Software and the IR Receivers. Paul emailed for pricing.
13 ir usb connectors
18 copies of MIRA

Paul will get site license quote and request a site license for faculty machines from the department

AV tech needs.
We should request media setup for both Art Ed rooms; 1201 and 1207.
We should request media setup for Advanced Drawing.
Sculpture cart needs tech fix or replaced by media setup (problems with this in the past).

Lab Usage Student Computing

Visual Resources Position:
Committee will put together a recommendation for this position and how it might interface with the dept., library, other departments, community. One looming question is how might this position be configured with other staffing needs?
