Grabiel Orozco

Gabriel Orozco was born in Jalapa, Veracruz, Mexico in 1962.

He uses several different mediums including sculpture, photography, painting, and video.

His works involve interesting perspectives on geometry and engaging the viewer's imagination.

Orozco's installations explore the ways artists affect the world with their work. They may show anything from political influence to urban landscapes and everyday objects. One of his best known works is "Black Kites" which includes a human skull with a checkered pattern covering the surface done with graphite.

He has been in many galleries including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

He currently lives and works in New York, Paris, and Mexico City.
